November is Almost Done and Gone

Where oh where has November gone?  I think this month has flown by the fastest.  The beginning of the month kicked off with my art show down in Springfield.  (Which fyi everything is up for auction until tomorrow night at 11:30 pm.  You can check it out here or here.)  And some more previews for you:

All of the proceeds from this show are going to a good cause.  My husband Jordan and I are preparing to be missionaries to the Philippines and this money will aid in our survey trip we're taking in February.

We've been traveling throughout the Midwest this month and I was so excited to show you pictures from one of our recent trips, but alas the compact flash was corrupted.  It was devastating.  Jordan did manage to get a few pics on his phone though...can you guess where we were?

Chicken in the car and the car won't go...that's how you spell CHICAGO!  Most of the time when we visit churches, we rarely get the opportunity to explore much of the city, but this was one place I wanted to see.  We weren't there for long, but we did get to walk around a bit and visit some fun places.  When we got there on Saturday we visited the Chicago Diner for lunch.  Meat-free since 83.
It was delicious!  I ordered from their Fall menu, of course, and got the Sweet Potato Quesadilla.  Which was a spinach tortilla, with marinated seitan, black beans, mashed sweet potatoes, cheeze, spinach, and salsa, + guacamole, of course.  What a good recommendation from my sister in-law!  Thanks Kelsey.  And I recommend it as well if you find yourself in the area.

And we for sure couldn't be in Chicago and not try some deep dish pizza.  Jordan had his very own face off between two rival joints:  Giordano's and Lou Malnati's.  We sat down at Giordano's to enjoy their lunch special and Jordan then ordered a second pie from Lou's to go to see how they faired against each other.

I even had some myself.  All for the cause baby.  I went with the classic spinach pie.  My favorite part was the crust.  But I don't want to spoil the results...you have to check out Jordan's blog for the full recap.
All in all Chicago was an engaging town, and one I think I could spend about a week exploring.  Thanks for the good times Chi-town.
