And Runnin Runnin

It stormed all night, but I made up in my mind nothing was going to stop me from doing my run.  Not even those blasted mosquitoes.  Luckily, there was only a slight drizzle at the start of my run, but as for the humidity...96% and at 6:20 in the morning!  AGH!  It was pretty bad.  Not to mention the fact that I had to change my route because some stupid man doesn't know how to keep his dog under control.  The other morning Jordan and I went out for a walk, and as we rounded a corner this giant golden retriever (I think) came darting out at us.  He was barking pretty viciously and started circling me and Jordan and chomping at us.  I was seriously scared.  I screamed at the man to get his dog, but he just stood in his yard calling for it.  What an idiot!  So we've been keeping an eye on the house, and Jordan said he saw the dog out again, not on a leash or anything...therefore, I don't run that way anymore.

Today though, I felt sluggish.  I had to keep talking myself up, and I thought I was going to have a horrible time...but my goal was just to finish.  But I was surprised when I got done.  I actually did just a smidge (and I mean the tiniest fraction) better than Sunday's run.
The splits:
Mile 1 : 10:23
Mile 2 : 10:14
Mile 3 : 10:19
Mile 4 : 9:35

It felt good to get out there and do it, even when it was hard.  At the end of it, I was drenched.  My dry fit shirt, wasn't so dry anymore.  And even though I hosed myself down with bug spray, I still got attacked.  Any suggestions on warding those stinking things away?

  1. Hey, love seeing your updates on your running and improvements. So proud of you. As far as dogs are concerned, you can go to a bike shop and get "dog spray". I have it for my bike and it's like pepper spray for dogs. Then you can run where you want to and not be worried or scared.
